Bodegas Caro

The winery is located in Godoy Cruz in the Mendoza region of Argentina. It is a joint venture initiated in 1999 between the wine multinational Catena Zapata and the "Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite)" (company of the French RothschildRothschild branch with Château Lafite-Rothschild, among others). The name is derived from the two initial letters of the two companies (CA = Catena, RO = Rothschild). The total estate comprises 60 hectares. The first vintage marketed was 2000.

Vineyards & grape varieties

The vineyards cover 16 hectares of vines in Luján de Cuyo (Agrelo with Cabernet Sauvignon, Vistalba with Malbec) and in the Uco Valley (El Cepillo/La Consulta with CS, as well as Malbec in Tupungato, Altamira, San Pablo and Gualtallary). They are located at 950 to 1,600 metres above sea level with soils ranging from sandy and gravelly to calcareous.
