The red grape variety is an interspecific new breeding between Fredonia x Niagara White. It contains genes from Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in 1946 in the USA by the breeder D. H. Scott, the selection followed in 1950. It is mainly used as table grape. No stock was recorded in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
