Blauer Elbling

The red grape variety originates from Germany. Synonyms are Bourgeois Bleu, Cerny Cynifal, Blau Elben, Elben Schwarz, Schwarz Elben, Schwarzelbling and Schwarzer Elbling. However, it should not be confused with the varieties Schwarzer El bling or Blauduftiger Trollinger (with synonyms Schwarzelbling and Schwarzblauer Elbling), whose DNA profiles are different (see Elbling). According to DNA analyses carried out in 2103, it is a presumably natural cross between Riesling x Schiava Grossa. However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see Molecular Genetics). The variety is suitable as a wine grape variety and table grape. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
