The winery is located in the municipality of Schliengen (Markgräflerland area) in the German wine-growing region of Baden. The Blankenhorn family, rich in tradition, can be traced back to the year 1600 in the Markgräflerland region. There are two branches of the family, one leading to Müllheim (see Adolph Blankenhorn), the basis for the business in Schliengen was laid by Johann Friedrich Blankenhorn (1824-1899) by buying a property in 1624 and founding a wine business. Since 1994, the business has been run by the fifth generation, Roy (Rosemarie) Blankenhorn. Finally, due to a lack of successors in the family, it was sold in 2014 to Martin Männer, who had been running a law firm for tax and business law in Freiburg. The latter grew up in a family of winegrowers and hobby vintners. Martin Männer and his partner Yvonne Kessler have been running the winery together since 2015. Markus Weickert is the technical manager, while Yvonne Kessler is the oenologist and cellar master.
The Wine lexicon helps me to keep up to date and refresh my knowledge. Thank you for this Lexicon that will never end in terms of topicality! That's what makes it so exciting to come back often.
