French term for "white", also a component of countless grape variety names. In the USA, this is a general term for white wines (also "White"), especially for those that are lightly pressed from red wine grapes (French Blanc de noirs). These include White Zinfandel (also Zinfandel Blanc), White Grenache, Cabernet Blanc or Gamay Blanc. For more information on this topic, see also the section on colour.
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
