Binge drinking

In the 1990s, an unculture of excessive alcohol consumption (binge) developed among young people in England. Especially at weekends, alcohol is consumed "until one drops" or until one is completely intoxicated. In German, this is also called "Kampftrinken", "Rauschtrinken", Wetttrinken" or "Komatrinken" (also binge drinking). The latter, by the way, was chosen as the Unword of the Year 2007 in Austria. As a consequence of this self-destructive alcohol abuse, the risk of alcohol-related accidents, acts of violence, suicides and diseases increases.
