The winery is located in the municipality of Gumpoldskirchen in the Lower Austrian winegrowing region Thermenregion. The foundation stone was laid by Manfred Biegler, who is considered a pioneer in the dry cultivation of the Rotgipfler and Zierfandler varieties. Since 2004, the winery has been run by his son Othmar. The vineyards cover nine hectares on the south-eastern slopes of the Anninger in the Badener Weg and Brindlbach vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Rotgipfler, Zierfandler, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Neuburger, Grüner Veltliner, Chardonnay and Gelber Muskateller, and 25% with the red wine varieties Zweigelt and Pinot Noir. The vineyards are cultivated in a natural, environmentally friendly way. Depending on the type of wine, the wines are matured in stainless steel tanks and in large wooden barrels with the aim of achieving varietal typicity. The premium wines include Rotgipfler Brindlbach, Rotgipfler Reserve, Zierfandler and Chardonnay Hausberg. Around 45,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. They also produce EdelbrändeBrand (Zierfandler wine brandy matured for 6 years in oak barrels, Riesling brandy) and bottle-fermented sparkling wine. The winery is a member of the Zierfandler winegrowers' association.
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
