DOC area for white wines in the Italian region of Marche. The zone covers 120 hectares of vineyards along the river Metauro in the municipalities of Barchi, Cartoceto, Fano, Fermignano, Fossombrone, Fratte Rosa, Montefelcino, Montemaggiore, Isola del Piano, Orciano, Sant'Ippolito, San Giorgio di Pesaro, Piagge, Saltara, San Costanzo and Serrungarina in the province of Pesaro e Urbino. The wine is made from at least 95% of the Bianchello (Biancame) variety, and a maximum of 5% of the Malvasia Bianca Lunga variety. There are also the longer-aged wine types Superiore and Passito as well as a Spumante.

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
