The white grape variety comes from Italy. Synonyms are Biancame dalla Forcella, Biancame Maschio, Biancame Nostrano and Bianchello. It must not be confused with the Trebbiano Toscano or Passerina varieties because of morphological similarities. The late ripening vine produces fruity, fresh white wines with floral aromas. It is mainly cultivated in the Emilia-Romagna and Marche regions, where it is permitted in the DOC wines Bianchello del Metauro, Colli di Rimini and Colli Pesaresi, among others. In 2010, a vineyard area of 2,599 hectares has been designated with a strong upward trend.
