The list includes wineries, cellars, production companies, trading companies and auction houses. In addition to alcoholic beverages (wine, beer, spirits), some also produce non-alcoholic beverages such as mineral water and fruit juices, as well as some completely different products such as food. In terms of sales volume of alcoholic beverages, the English multinational Diageo, the French multinational Pernod Ricard, the US multinationals Constellation Brands, Fortune Brands and Gallo, the Australian multinational Treasury Wine Estates and the international group Bacardi-Martini Limited are at the top. Measured purely in terms of wine, however, the ranking would be quite different, as the spirits share of sales volume is significantly higher for most companies. Some companies are intertwined or have a shared history. Others were dissolved in the course of mergers or takeovers, but are interesting for historical reasons.
