Next to Steirerland (Styria) and Weinland (Burgenland, Lower Austria, Vienna), the third Austrian wine-growing region. It includes the federal provinces of Austria that are not known as classic and traditional wine-growing regions. In 2020, the total area of the Bergland comprised 220 hectares of vineyards (compared to 2017 with 237 hectares, this was a reduction of 17 hectares, or 3%). These are distributed among the five federal provinces as follows (the 2017 values are in parentheses):

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
