The winery "Bodegas Berberana" is located in Cenicero in the Spanish Rioja sub-region Rioja Alta. It was founded in 1877 by Martínez Berberana in Ollauri. The racking to its present location took place in 1975. After several changes of ownership, it is now owned by Arco Bodegas Unidas. The chief oenologist is Camello Angula. The shareholders are five large winegrowers' cooperatives in Rioja with a total vineyard area of 3,000 hectares. The winery has cement and stainless steel tanks as well as state-of-the-art cooling and bottling facilities. There are 50,000 American oak barriques available for the ageing of the wines. A total of 2.5 million bottles of wine mature in the cellars. Among others, the two brands Carta de Oro Gran Reserva (80% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha Tinta) and Viña Alarde Gran Reserva (70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha Tinta, 10% Mazuelo and Graciano) are produced, each of which matures for three years in barriques. Around 45% of the production is exported worldwide. There is a joint venture with the Marqués de Griñón winery.
