Beibinghong

The red grape variety is an interspecific new breeding between Zuoyouhong (Muscat Blanc x Amurensis) x Zuoija 84-26-53 (Ugni Blanc = Trebbiano Toscano x Amurensis). Genes from Vitis amurensis and Vitis vinifera are included. The hybrid was crossed in 1995 in China by the breeder RunGang Song, the selection in 1998. The vine is resistant to frost down to minus 30 °Celsius, both types of powdery mildew and anthracnose. It is cultivated in the northeast of China in the Heilongjiang province and in Tibet. In 2016, 1,600 hectares of vineyard area were designated (Kym Anderson).
