Reed or vineyard site (also Bärenreiser, Bärenreißer, Bärnreißer, Bernreiser) in the municipality of Höflein in the Lower Austrian wine growing region of Carnuntum. The south-facing slope with a slight inclination comprises about 30 hectares of vineyards with a lot of gravel in the upper area and humus and loam in the lower area. Although belonging to Höflein, 90% of the reed is owned by winegrowers from the neighbouring community of Göttlesbrunn. Here, mainly the red wine varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, St. Laurent and Zweigelt are cultivated, as well as to a small extent the white wine varieties Chardonnay andPinot Blanc. The vineyards Grassl Philipp, Lager Ernst, Netzl Franz, Pimpel, Pitnauer and Taferner Franz, for example, have shares in the vineyard.
