The winery is located in the municipality of Untermarkersdorf (Hadres) in the Pulka Valley in the north of the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Weinviertel on the border to the Czech Republic. In the imperial patent of 20 July 1641, Untermarkersdorf is highlighted by name as a first-class wine village. Since that time, winegrowing has been practised in the traditional family. Today, the winery is run by Wolfgang Baumgartner. With a total of 200 hectares of vineyards, the farm is one of the largest wineries in Austria. The vineyards are located in the Neudeckel, Tafelberg, Schatzberg and Sommerleiten vineyards. The white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Welschriesling, Chardonnay, Muskat-Ottonel, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Scheurebe, Müller-Thurgau and Jubiläumsrebe, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Blanc, Blauer Portugieser, Zweigelt, St. Laurent and Blaufränkisch are cultivated.
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
