Basic wine

The term is not defined in EU wine law and also in Austria, but in Germany (previously processed wine) it is defined as follows: 1) wine intended for the production of wine with the indication "European Community wine" or a blend of wines from several EU countries. 2) Wine intended for the production of sparkling wine or quality sparkling wine without an indication of the vine variety. 3) Wine for the production of wine fortified for distillation, wine vinegar, non-alcoholic or reduced-alcohol wine or sparkling (sparkling) beverages made therefrom, wine-based beverages, aromatised wines or other foodstuffs which are not products within the meaning of the Wine Law.
