The winery is located in the municipality of Obermarkersdorf near the wine town of Retz in the west of the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Weinviertel. It is run by Manfred and Nici Bannert in the fourth generation. In 2008, a new business premises was built in a Mediterranean-modern style. It also serves as an event location for special occasions such as weddings in the vineyard.
The vineyards cover 33 hectares of vineyards around the Manhartsberg in the Altenberg, Hochberg, Kreuzberg, Nussberg, Satz, Schafberg and Sündlasberg vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner (main variety), Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Gelber Muskateller (Muscat Blanc), Chardonnay and Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc), as well as with the red wine varieties Blauer Zweigelt, Blauburgunder (Pinot Noir) and St. Laurent. Natural, environmentally friendly viticulture is consistently practised. During the entire vegetation period, careful selections (e.g. thinning out) create the basis for quality.
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
