The "Weingut Christian Bamberger - Steinhardter Hof" is located in the community of Bad Sobernheim in the German Nahe
wine growing region. The viticulture in the traditional family goes back to the year 1658. After an internship in the Napa Valley
with studies at the University of California
in Davis and graduation in business administration at the University of Mainz
, Christian Bamberger jr. returned to his parents' winery in 2004 and has been running the business since 2007 in the 14th generation of the family
The vineyards comprise 14 hectares of vineyards in the individual locations Königsfels
, Mühlberg (Schlossböckelheim), Domberg, Johannesberg (Sobernheim) and Marienpforter Klosterberg (Waldböckelheim). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc, and with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Dorsa, Cabernet Cortis and Merlot. For the premium collection, dense planting
was carried out in the individual locations Mühlberg and Königsfels.
The white wines are mainly aged in steel tanks. The red wines mature after traditional maceration in wooden barrels or in barriques. The premium wines include the lines "Collection CB7" with "Sauvignon Blanc fumé" and "Pinot Noir QX" as well as the cuvée group "nomen est omen" with the white wines "Sorgenfrei" and "Nachhall", the rosé Cabernet "Lichtblick", and the red wines "Machtlust" and "Strahlkraft". The best selling wine is the white wine "Merlot blanc de noir". The bottle-fermented sparkling wines "Riesling brut" and "Spätburgunder Blanc de noir brut" are also produced.
