Balmoral

Cult red wine from Syrah of the Australian winery Rosemount Estate; see there.

The Australian winery with its headquarters in Denman in the Hunter Valley (New South Wales) was founded by Robert Ian Oatley in 1969. The name "Rosemount" had already been given by an earlier winery owner named Carl Brecht, but there was nothing left of his vineyards. The winery was built up from nothing, and the first wines were not marketed until 1975. Today, the vineyards cover a total of 2,500 hectares of vines in the two states of New South Wales and South Australia in seven areas. These are Adelaide Hills, Coonawarra, Hunter Valley, Langhorne Creek, McLaren Vale, Mudgee and Orange. The wines are among Australia's export hits. Rosemount developed as a direct competitor to...
