The white grape variety originates from the border region of Romania/Serbia and the former Yugoslavia/Hungary; the historical landscape of Banat in the Balkans. There are around 60 synonyms that testify to its great age and once widespread distribution in the eastern states. Some of these are Hellrothe Müllerrebe, Ungarstock (Germany, Austria); Bagrena, Bagrina Crvena, Bagrina Krajinska, Bragina Rara, Bagrina Rošie, Červená Dinka, Chervená Dinka, Crvena Dinka, Turska Ružica (Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia); Bagrina Rara, Braghina, Braghinâ, Braghinâ Albă, Braghinâ Deasa, Braghină de Drăgăsani, Braghină Rosie Rara, Vulpe Roşie Bătută(Moldova, Romania); Törökdinka, Vörös Dinka (Hungary).
