Bärnreiser

Riede or site (also Bärenreiser, Bärenreißer, Bärnreißer, Bernreiser) in the municipality of Höflein in the Carnuntum wine-growing region of Lower Austria. The south-facing slope with a slight incline covers about 30 hectares of vineyards on soils with a lot of gravel in the upper area and humus and loam in the lower area. Although belonging to the municipality of Höflein, 90% of the vineyard is owned by winegrowers from the neighbouring municipality of Göttlesbrunn. The red wine varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, St. Laurent and Zweigelt are cultivated here, as well as the white wine varieties Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc on a small scale. The wineries Glatzer Walter, Grassl Philipp, Lager Markus, Netzl Franz, Pimpel, Pitnauer and Taferner Franz, for example, have shares in the vineyard.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
