In the Weinviertel region of Lower Austria, a common name (dialectal "Beu") for the "sheet pile wood" (a round piece of wood shaped accordingly) which was used in the past to close the bunghole of the wine barrels (left in the picture). Today these are made of rubber, plastic or glass. See also under "Wine growing customs and barrel types".
