Austria Organic Guarantee

With more than 10,000 farms under contract (almost half of all organic farms in Austria), the ABG is the largest among organic inspection bodies. It carries out certification and ongoing inspection in Austria, neighbouring countries and increasingly outside Europe, from organic farmers to processors of organic products. Together with its sister company agroVet, numerous services are offered ranging from organic certification to GLOBALGAP (global quality assurance and certification system for agriculture) and standards regarding sustainability.

There are also cooperations with BIO.INSPECTA (internal Swiss inspection body), BIO SUISSE (Swiss organic umbrella organisation), Delinat (Swiss distributor of European organic wines), DEMETER, EASY-CERT (online platform for certificates, label recognition), JAS (Joint Analytical Systems, chemical analysis products) and NOP (National Organic Program, US certification programme for food). The ABG is also significantly involved in international projects. See also under Organic Viticulture.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
