The white grape variety originates from France. Synonyms are Aubun Vert, Blanc d'Euvézin and Vert Blanc. It should not be confused with the Aubin Blanc, Aubun or Gros Vert varieties, despite seemingly suggestive synonyms or morphological similarities. According to DNA analyses carried out in 1999, it is probably a natural cross between Pinot x Gouais Blanc (Heunisch). The variety was first mentioned in 1722. The early ripening vine produces white wines with a high acidity. The variety, which is threatened with extinction, is cultivated in Lorraine in the municipalities of Euvézin, Magny and Thiaucourt-Regniéville. However, no stock was recorded in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
