Aspraïdano

Synonym (also Aspaedano) for the grape variety Aïdani Aspro; see there.

The white grape variety originates from Greece, possibly from the island of Santorini. Synonyms are Adani, Aedano Leyko, Aïdani Blanc, Aïdani Lefko, Aspaedano, Aspraïdano and Moschïdano. It is believed that the variety (among many others) was used for the production of the famous Malvasia wines, which were shipped or exported from the historic Greek port of Monemvasia as early as the 13th century.
