The winery "Bodegas Arrocal" is located in Gumiel de Mercado (near Burgos) in the DO area Ribera del Duero in the Spanish region Castilla y León. It was founded in 2002 by Rosa María Arroyo Calvo and Moisés Calvo. The functional bodega is built on the principle of gravity, in order to use as few pumping operations as possible and to ensure a beautiful finish. The vineyards cover 17 hectares. They are monitored by means of soil probes for the current levels of water, nitrogen, phosphorus and magnesium. In the event of any deficiency situations, this allows us to react precisely. Harvesting does not take place until the beginning of October, when the grapes have reached full ripeness. Fermentation takes place in large stainless steel tanks. Only the two wines "Arrocal" (4 months in American barriques) and "Arrocal Selección" (14 months in new French barriques) are pressed. 90,000 bottles of wine are produced annually, 70% of which are exported.
