Aroma seal

Device for closing opened (uncorked) wine bottles in order to avoid or prevent loss of aroma. The wedge-shaped closure is usually made of solid stainless steel and has a rubber or plastic coating in the upper area to ensure an airtight seal. It adapts to different bottle necks. Some manufacturers propagate that stainless steel achieves the so-called silver spoon effect - but this claim does not stand up to scientific findings. See also under closures.
