Anthoprim

The red grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Seyve-Villard 12-286 x Zweigelt. It contains genes from Vitis berlandieri, Vitis labrusca, Vitis lincecumii, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera and was crossed in 1996 in Gols (Burgenland, Austria) by the private breeders Dr. Gertrude Mayer and Georg Paul Weiss. A similar variety of the vine nursery is Zweigelt Stella. This fast-growing, frost hardy vine is resistant to both types of mildew and botrytis. It is therefore considered a PIWI variety. The variety produces colourful red wines similar to Zweigelt. In 2016 no stocks were reported (statistics Kym Anderson).
