The white grape variety originates from India; synonyms are Anab-el-Shahi, Anab-e-Shabi, Aneb-e-Shai and Malta. The parentage (parentage) is unknown. It is widely grown in the Tamil Nadu and Hyderabat areas and is mainly used as table grape and for the production of sultanas. The variety was also a crossing partner of some new varieties (see Arka for details). No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
