Alvadurão

The white grape variety originates from Portugal. Synonyms are Alicante Branco Type 2, Alvadeirão and Alvadorão. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2013, it comes from a presumably natural cross between Síria or Ratinho x Rabo de Ovelha (the parent variety is therefore unclear). It should not be confused with the Síria (Alvadorão) variety due to morphological similarities and an apparent synonym indicating this. The variety is used as a winepress and table grape. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
