Altenberg de Wolxheim

One of the Alsace (Bas-Rhin) sites classified as Grand Cru within the Alsace Grand Cru appellation. Documents from the Middle Ages testify that the site was owned by several religious congregations. Emperor Napoleon (1769-1821) appreciated the Riesling from here. The vineyards cover 32 hectares of vineyards on calcareous clay soil in the municipality of Wolxheim. They are mainly planted with Riesling and Gewürztraminer. Well-known producers are Charles Dischler and Muhlberger.
