The winery is located in the municipality of Traiskirchen in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region Thermenregion. Winegrowing has been practised by the family in unbroken succession since 1762. In 1909, the first fixed Heurigen was opened in Traiskirchen. At that time, wine was still served from barrels. In 1986, the business was taken over by Dipl. Ing. Karl Alphart. After the death of his father in 2016, it is continued by son Florian. The vineyards cover 25 hectares in the municipalities of Traiskirchen, Pfaffstätten and Gumpoldskirchen in the Hausberg, Goldlacke, Rasslerin, Rodauner, Satzing, Teigelsteiner and Zistl vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Rotgipfler, Neuburger, Riesling, Grüner Veltliner, Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The flagship is the barrique-aged Rotgipfler Rodauner Top Selektion. Other premium wines are Neuburger Hausberg, Grüner Veltliner Zistl, Chardonnay Reserve, the 18-month barrique-aged red wine cuvée Alpha (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot) and Rotgipfler Rodauner PUR. About one third of the production is sold in the wine taverns and on the farm, 20% is exported, mostly for the upscale gastronomy.
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
