Allesverloren Estate

The winery is located in the south-eastern foothills of the Kasteelberg near the town of Riebeek in the South African wine-growing district of Swartland (Coastal Region). Its origins date back to between 1696 and 1704, when the owners at the time, after a long journey to Stellenbosch, returned to find their house burnt down and the farm destroyed. The exclamation "all lost" gave the estate its name. In 1872, the estate was bought by Daniël Francois Malan. He subsequently converted the former wheat farm to viticulture. Since 2003, the estate has been run by Danie Malan, the fifth generation of the Malan family.

The vineyards cover 227 hectares of vines on weathered sandstone and slate soils at 170 to 350 metres above sea level, planted only with red wine varieties. These are Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), Souzao (Vinhão), Pontac (Teinturier du Cher), Touriga Nacional, Tinta Francisca and Malvasia Rey (Palomino). The product range comprises only six wines with the four varietal wines Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tinta Barroca and Touriga Nacional, the cuvée "Danies Backyard Blend" (Tinta Barroca, Shiraz) as well as the "Fine Old Vintage" in port style.
