The white grape variety originates from Spain. Synonyms are Albilla, Albilla de Manchuela and Albillo del Pozo.
The parentage is unknown. It should not be confused with the varieties Albillo Mayor (Albillo de Toro), Albillo Real (Albillo Pardo) or Palomino (Albillo de Lucena) due to some of the same synonyms or morphological similarities (see also a complete list under Albillo).
The early to medium ripening vine is susceptible to downy mildew and botrytis, but moderately resistant to drought. It produces medium-bodied, aromatic white wines with a balanced acidity structure and flavours of honey, citrus fruits and apples.
