DOC area for red wines in the Italian region of Piedmont. The zone comprises over 50 municipalities in the province of Cuneo. The red wine (also known as Riserva) is made from the varieties Nebbiolo (70-85%), Barbera (15-30%) and other authorised varieties (max. 5%). If the grapes come from classified vineyards, Vigna can be indicated on the bottle label followed by the vineyard name.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
