The white grape variety is (according to the old entry in the VIVC catalogue Geilweilerhof) a Portuguese new variety between João de Santarém(Castelão Francês) x Muscat d'Hamburg. However, this parenthood is not consistent with DNA analyses of the two varieties (ex Wine Grapes). The variety is grown in Portugal mainly in the Região Norte (North), as well as in the centre and the Azores. In 2016, a total of 299 hectares of vineyards were designated (Kym Anderson).
