The winery is located in the municipality of Konz-Oberemmel (Saar area) in the German wine-growing region of Mosel. It is owned by Alfred Kirchen. The vineyards cover 8.5 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Altenberg, Karlsberg and Rosenberg (Oberemmel) in a wind-protected side valley on the lower course of the Saar. They are planted with 85% Riesling, as well as Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Dornfelder. Some of the vines are up to 50 years old. Natural, environmentally friendly viticulture is consistently practised. The aim is to produce wines with natural aromas that reflect the terroir of the vineyards. A slow, gentle spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts takes place for up to 12 months. In years with suitable weather conditions, an ice wine is also produced. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced, as well as fine spirits (yeast, marc, fruit) and liqueurs in the in-house distillery
