The red grape variety is a new breed between Bellino x Précoce de Malingre. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2013, the paternity Madeleine Angevine given in the breeding list turned out to be incorrect. Synonyms are Agostenga Rossa, I.P. 14, Pirovano 14, Blaue Seidentraube (blue silk grape) and Rote Seidentraube (red silk grape). The cross was made in 1901 at the research centre in Rome by the Italian grower Alberto Piròvano (1884-1973). The variety is used for pressing and table grape. No stocks were recorded in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
