Adelfränkisch

The white grape variety originates from Germany or Switzerland. Synonyms are Adelfränkische, Grüner Adelfränkisch, Kleinfränkisch and Weißfränkisch. It must not be confused with the Grünling (Adelfranke, Adelfranke Blanche) or Traminer (Adelfranke) varieties because of the same synonyms. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2020, it is a presumably natural cross between Savagnin (Traminer) x unknown variety. The very old vine belongs to the group of Franconian, i.e. qualitatively "better" grape varieties. The medium ripening vine tends to trickle and is therefore not yield-safe. It produces full-bodied, fruity white wines with aromas of citrus fruits and green apple, reminiscent of Grüner Veltliner. In 2016, however, no stocks were reported (Kym Anderson statistics).
