The "Winzergenossenschaft Achkarren am Kaiserstuhl eG" in the German wine-growing region of Baden was founded in 1929 by 16 local winegrowers. Today, 325 members cultivate a total of 150 hectares of vines. The managing director is Waldemar Isele, the cellar master is Christoph Rombach. The range of varieties consists of the white wine varieties Pinot Gris ( Grauburgunder) with 52 hectares, Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Blanc ( Weißburgunder), Silvaner, Gewürztraminer, Muscat, Chardonnay, Scheurebe and Riesling, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir (Spätburgunder) with 50 hectares and Cabernet Mitos. The two single vineyard sites in the municipality differ significantly in the structure of their soils. While in the Castellberg the vines grow on pure loess loam, in the Schlossberg they take root in volcanic weathered rock, which is only covered in places with a relatively thin layer of loess loam.
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
