Abondance

The red grape variety comes from France. Synonyms are Abondance de Doue, Abondance de Doui, Gamay à Grains Rond, Gamay d'Abondance, Gamay d'Orléans Pour Pulliat, Gamay Rond, Jaquemart, Pineau Rouge en Anjou, Pineau de Saint Georges, Pineau Rouge de Brissac, Plant de Bazouge, Plant de Varennes, Rouge Pineau and Rouget. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2013, it comes from a presumably natural cross between Gouais Blanc x unknown partner. However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see molecular genetics). In 2016 no stock was recorded (Kym Anderson).

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
