The magazine "A la Carte - Magazin für Trink- und Esskultur" is available with country-specific editions in France, Germany and Austria, whereby the individual countries operate largely independently (however, there are also special guides on cities, regions or hotels under the name "A la Carte"). The editors of the Austria edition are Hans Schmid and Christian Grünwald, editor-in-chief is Christian Grünwald, and Michael Prónay, for example, is a permanent member of the wine section. Since 1991, the best restaurants have been rated with one to five stars and with a 100-point system. The stars illustrate the overall ranking, the points give information about the exact performance of a restaurant. Attention is paid to the cuisine (one to five crowns), the service, the wine selection (one to three bottles) and the ambience. Additional ratings are given for particularly high-quality digestifs (shot glass). In addition, a section on the best wine growers and distilleries is published annually. The wines and distillates are blind tasted and graded according to the international 100-point system. See also under wine guide and wine list.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
